Carl Corpus and Laia Barro aim for top finish as they banner the early roster in the Philippine Junior Amateur Golf Championship (Match Play) slated May 14-18 at the Riviera Golf Club’s Langer course in Silang, Cavite.
Corpus seeks to complete an unfinished business last year that saw him rule the Phl Amateur Open match play tilt but settle for second in this event featuring the country’s leading and rising players in the ranks.
But he expects a tough outing against a field teeming with talent, led by Leandro Bagtas, Paolo Barro, Joaquin Gomez, Josh Jorge, Masaichi Otake, Sean Ramos and Francis Lanuza.
Registration for the five-day event serving as part of the PLDT Group National Amateur Tour is ongoing with deadline for listup set Friday (May 10) at 12 noon. Fees are pegged at P3,000 for the Championship Division (boys and girls) and P2,000 for those vying in Special Division (boys and girls).

Barro, on the other hand, leads the early list of players in the girls’ side that includes Laurea Duque, Sofia Legaspi and Mariel Tee with Rianne Malixi, winner of NGAP’s Phl Junior Amateur stroke play and Phl Amateur Open match play, also expected to join and shoot for her third victory in the season.
