BACOLOD CITY – Three alleged security escorts of Isabela Mayor Joselito Malabor in Negros Occidental were arrested after police raided their houses in simultaneous operations in the town Tuesday for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Police identified the suspects as Alexander Ferrer, 60, of Barangay 8, Niel Ladrido, of Barangay Tinongan, and Florentino Lopio, of Barangay 9 Poblacion.
Ferrer is a retired soldier while Lupio is a former barangay official.
The operation was conducted by the Intelligence Section of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), 1st and 2nd companies of the Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company, and Isabela Municipal Police Station through the implementation of search warrants issued by Judge Mila Yap-Camiso of Regional Trial Court in La Carlota City.
Police recovered from Ferrer a sling bag, two units of .45 caliber pistol, three magazines, 49 ammunition of the said firearm, another ammunition of the same firearm loaded in its chamber, two magazines and 36 ammunition of Thompson firearm, and 19 ammunition of .9mm firearm. (Glazyl Masculino)
