A low-pressure area embedded in the Intertropical Convergence Zone is expected to affect the country on Election Day, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said yesterday.
According to PAGASA Weather Division chief Esperanza Cayanan, the two weather systems will most likely affect the Philippine archipelago during the midterm polls on Monday.
Based on the special weather outlook for Election Day issued by PAGASA, Cayanan said Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ beginning tomorrow.
In Luzon, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with afternoon rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail especially over the Cordillera Administrative Region on Monday.
Light southwesterly to westerly winds will also be experienced over Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao, while light winds blowing from the southwest and southeast are expected over the rest of Luzon.
PAGASA advised voters to bring any protection for the expected rainshowers.
PAGASA continues to monitor the LPA spotted off 860 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
The State weather bureau said the LPA embedded in the ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms in Eastern Visayas, CARAGA, and in Davao region today.
PAGASA warned residents in the areas affected by the ITCZ and LPA on possible flashfloods or landslides due to scattered light to moderate to at times heavy rains.
In Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, southwesterly surface windflow will bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.
