To ensure safe and secure elections tomorrow, the Southern Police District will deploy more than 3,000 police personnel across the 317 barangays in southern Metro Manila.
SPD director Police Brig. Gen. Eliseo Cruz deployed his troops in a traditional send-off ceremony at the SPD parade ground in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City the other day following the flag-lowering ceremony.
A total of 3,705 PNP personnel will be deployed on orders – 1,067 to the polling centers, 406 in canvassing areas, 165 route security, 97 demac and semac, 125 covert security, 1,075 for anti-criminality, 317 for the rapid deployment, 270 civil disturbance management, and 288 reserve force.
This deployment is dedicated solely to ensure the successful exercise of right to suffrage of the 2,206,488 registered voters spread in the 317 barangays in southern Metro Manila during Election Day, Cruz said.
Ten teams composed of 140 policemen were also deployed for anti-vote buying and selling of votes which started on May 6 until the duration of the election period. (Dhel Nazario)
