A suspect in a robbery with homicide case was shot dead inside the Manila Police District Station 2 (Moriones) in Tondo, Manila Friday.
Investigation showed the slain suspect, Enrique Lugtu Jr., 37, jobless, and a member of the Sigue-Sigue Commando Gang, was taken to the investigation room of the MPD Station 2 at around 3:45 p.m. for fingerprint scanning.
During the fingerprint scanning, Lugtu allegedly stole the 9mm Glock 17 pistol of Police Corporal Analyn San Victores and pointed the gun at her.
However, Lugtu failed to shoot Victores as the gun was not loaded, prompting San Victores’ colleague, Police Corporal Rhisnel Vidanes, to shoot the suspect thrice.
Lugtu was taken to the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center in Manila by a police mobile vehicle but he was declared dead on arrival.
The incident is still under investigation, police said.
Lugtu allegedly robbed a jeepney passenger on Dimasalang St. in Sta. Cruz, Manila on May 26.
A closed circuit television footage showed Lugtu strangling and pushing the victim, Emelita Legney, out of the jeepney.
Legney died Friday after sustaining major injuries in the head.
Police said Lugtu had three robbery-holdup cases. (Erma Edera)
