The Philippine Azkals take on China minus some of their key players in an international friendly match at the Tianhe Stadium in Guangzhou.
Playing sans brothers Phil and James Younghusband and goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, the Azkals aim to start their preparation for the 2022 World Cup/2023 Asian Cup Qualifiers on the right track in the 7:30 p.m. match against the Chinese.
The World Cup/Asian Cup Qualifiers will start in September with the groupings to be determined at a later date.
Ceres Negros’ Stephan Schrock, Mike Ott, Kevin Ingreso and Alvaro Silva, Javi Patino of Thailand’s Buriram United, Michael Falkesgaard of Thailand’s Bangkok United, Daisuke Sato of Romania’s Sepsi OSK and Patrick Reichelt of Malaysia’s Melaka United are among the prominent names on the squad.
Other players on the list are Stallion-Laguna’s Patrick Deyto, Amani Aguinaldo of Malaysia’s PKNF, Marco Casambre of Thailand’s Chainat Hornbill, Stephen Palla of Thailand’s Buriram United, Kaya-Iloilo’s Jovin Bedic and Ceres’ Curt Dizon.
New additions to the Azkals are Bernd Schipmann of Germany’s Rot Weiss Ahlen and Christian Rontini of Italy’s ASD Sangjovannesse.
