Four teams, led by last year’s bridesmaid F2 Logistics, start their title bids when the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference fires off today at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Cargo Movers clash with the Generika-Ayala Lifesavers at 2 p.m. while the Marinerang Pilipina Skippers debut against the Sta. Lucia Realtors in their 4 p.m. confrontation.
A simple opening ceremony ushers the tournament at 1 p.m. with eight teams fighting for the crown that also include defending champions Petron Blaze Spikers, Foton Tornadoes Blue Energy, Cignal HD Spikers and PLDT Home Fibr Hitters.
Skipper Aby Maraño will spearhead F2 Logistics in trying to erase the stigma of their last year’s championship defeat that went into a deciding Game 3.
Providing star factor for F2 are former La Salle stalwarts Dawn Macandili, Michelle Cobb, Desiree Cheng, Kim Fajardo and Majoy Baron .
But all eyes will be on Filipino-American Kalei Mau.
The 6-foot-2 Mau The 6-foot-2 Mau is not only a strong attacker but also a good defender, giving the Cargo Movers an additional scoring punch.
The Lifesavers, meanwhile, seek to eclipse their third place finish last year with Kath Arado, Ria Meneses, Patty Orendain and Mary Anne Mendrez in front of their attack.
Marinerang Pilipina is excited to prove its worth as it parades a promising lineup composed of Ces Racraquin, Judith Abil, Chia Permentilla and Dim Pacres.
