Ceres-Negros absorbed a 2-1 loss to Hanoi FC in the second leg of their ASEAN Zonal semifinals on Tuesday to bow out of the AFC Cup after a 3-2 defeat on aggregate at the Hang Day Stadium in Vietnam.
The Busmen conceded two second half goals before coming with a huge goal that made things interesting.
But time was not on their side and fell short of salvaging a draw that could have put them in the ASEAN Zonal Finals on the away-goal advantage.
Pape Omar Faye and Nguyen Van Quyet struck for Hanoi after a scoreless first half that put Hanoi ahead 2-0 before a Curt Dizon goal in the 85th minute.
Dizon nearly scored a second in the final minutes but his attempt was saved by Hanoi goalkeeper Nguyen Van Cong.
