Games Today (The Arena, San Juan City)
4:15 p.m. – PLDT vs Cignal
7 p.m. – Petron vs F2 Logistics
Bitter rivals Petron and F2 Logistics clash today in a rematch of last year’s finals in the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
Expect a thrilling match in their 7 p.m. encounter with the defending champion Blaze Spikers seeking to reaffirm their mastery over the Cargo Movers.
Petron needed three matches in capturing last year’s crown.
Both teams are currently unbeaten this season with F2 Logistics riding on a three-game winning run and Petron winning over Marinerang Pilipina and Foton.
Their strengths will be tested anew as both squads boast of experienced players.
Familiarity with coach Ramil De Jesus’ system will also be F2 Logistics’ main weapon with former and current La Salle spikers like Aby Maraño, Dawn Macandili, Ara Galang, Kim Fajardo and Desiree Cheng comprising the forefront of their attack.
The acquisition of the 6-foot-2 former Arizona star Kalei Mau gives F2 additional ceiling.
“She’s the missing piece to the team because we didn’t have a ‘go-to-guy’ player like her for the past conference,” De Jesus said of Mau.
“She has a high-percentage in attacking and anytime I need a go-to-guy and a leader, she’s ready to carry the team,” he added.
