Centro Escolar University is determined to build on its unlikely finals appearance in the PBA D-League despite having to play with only eight players.
The Scorpions overcame the odds amid the expulsion of players due to alleged game-fixing by settling for a runner-up finish against eventual champion Cignal-Ateneo.
In fact, CEU was able to win a game before Ateneo dominated the rest of the way.
Coach Derrick Pumaren, who described the run as an “incredible accomplishment”, is preparing to fill the 4-5 spots before the D-League and collegiate seasons begin in the next few months.
Pumaren fielded Senegalese center Maodo Malick Diouf, Rich Guinitaran, Jerome Santos, Dave Bernabe, Franz Diaz, Kurt Sunga, Joshua Abastillas and Jordan Intac.
But Pumaren said that getting a big man that can provide the support for Diouf will be his main priority. (Jonas Terrado)
