Miciano, ranked 13th in the field, defeated Bai Adelard of Chinese-Taipei while Sevillano took the measure of Zhang Ethan of New Zealand.
IM Daniel Quizon settled for a draw with Juan Izz Linardhi Handaru of Indonesia while Jeth Romy Morado was upset by David Saputra of Indonesia.
