Bacoor extended its winning streak to five games when it outlasted Caloocan, 95-94, in the MPBL Lakan Season on Friday night at the Caloocan Sports Complex.
And they did it minus head Chris Gavina, team captain Oping Sumalinog and reigning MVP Gab Banal for various reasons.
Gavina missed Friday’s game as he joined the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, where he is part of the coaching staff, in their game against the San Miguel Beermen in Cagayan de Oro City.
Banal, on the other hand, was tapped as one of the country’s representatives to play for Mighty Sports in the William Jones Cup tournament in Taipei.
Sumalinog attended his sibling’s wedding and wasn’t able to play as well.
Despite the absence of their key members, the Strikers were able to pull it through as Michael Mabulac, Michael Cañete, RJ Ramirez, Mark Montuano and Rocky Acidre stepped up.
Like Bacoor, Makati also kept its winning run going with a 76-69 win over the struggling Bataan Risers, 76-69.
Muntinlupa finally made it to the win column after downing expansion team SOCCSKSARGEN, 58-55.
