The first ever “Bakbakan Early Bird 9-Stag Derby”, a R10 million nationwide event organized by the International Federation of Gamefowl Breeders Associations (FIGBA), goes to Rizal and Bicol region today to stage first-class competition.
The Rizal leg will be held at Antipolo City’s Blue Mountain Sports Arena with 70 confirmed entries.
Rey Directo, president of Rizal Gamecock Breeders Association (RGBA), said the 2-stag eliminations will be also held on Aug. 2 and 16 with the 3-stag semis on Aug. 20 and finals on Aug. 31.
Members of Camarines Gamefowl Breeders Association (CGBA) likewise compete in the 2-stag qualifying round today at the New Iriga City Sports Complex.
Meantime, the event got a big boost yesterday with the support of Thunderbird SD4+ and Excellence Poultry and Livestock Specialists.
The 4-stag finals will be held simultaneously in various venues nationwide on Aug. 31, said FIGBA president Ricoy Palmares Jr.
FIGBA is the prime mover of the annual “National Bakbakan 12 Stag Derby” set this October.
