LAS VEGAS – Sergey Lipinets of Kazakhstan chopped down last-minute Filipino replacement Jayar Inson with a single left hook to the jaw in the second round of their welterweight match Saturday at the MGM Grand.
Although Inson was able to get up, referee jay Nady wisely called a halt as Inson looked badly hurt.
Earlier, flyweight Genesis Libranza scored a dominating fourth-round knockout of Carlos Maldonado.
Referee Russell Mora intervened with only two seconds remaining in their eight-rounder as Libranza overpowered his foe with his right.
In the curtain-raiser of the 11-fight card, California-based Filipino featherweight John Leo Dato blasted out the game and gutsy Juan Antonio Lopez in five rounds of another overpowering performance by a Filipino.
Dato pulled the plug on Lopez’s bid after landing a body shot that put him down for the count.
