San Miguel Beer’s Terrence Romeo faces a fine from the PBA Commissioner’s Office for flashing a dirty finger during Sunday’s 98-84 win over NorthPort at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Romeo was caught flipping the bird when he was subbed out in the fourth quarter of the Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals game after engaging in verbal and heated exchanges with Batang Pier guard Nico Elorde.
PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said the amount will depend if Romeo had done the same act in the past, though a P2,000 fine has been meted to first-time offenders.
A possible suspension has been ruled out since the league had only fined players who have committed such gestures.
The veteran guard later downplayed the incident, saying he’ll have to be more matured in dealing with such situations in the future.
SMB eventually pulled away after Romeo’s benching to force a rubber match for a spot in the semifinals on Wednesday at the Big Dome.
