Mendiola FC 1991 stunned Green Archers United, 5-2, Wednesday to pick up only its second victory in the Philippines Football League at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.
Ashley Flores produced a hat trick to lead Mendiola to a shock result with Green Archers which entered the match favored to draw level on points with third-running Stallion-Laguna.
Instead, Mendiola improved to seven points through eight matches, moving four clear of sixth place Global-Makati and six off bottom-feeder Air Force.
Souleyman Mbouombouo Ndepe and Mar Vincent Diano also scored for Mendiola, which took a 4-0 lead at the break.
