The Department of Tourism backs the move of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission to conduct lifestyle checks on government officials.
Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat urged other officials in her department to “submit” themselves to the lifestyle check of the PACC.
“Not only do I submit myself, I also bring with me the DoT’s officials, as we fully submit ourselves to the lifestyle check of the PACC. This is our way of sending the message across that the DoT is one with the administration’s anti-corruption drive,” said Puyat.
Puyat lauded the PACC’s move in accordance with the government’s campaign against corruption.
“Needless to say, we laud the initiatives of the PACC. We look forward to contributing to the report which they hope to complete by year’s end,” said the Tourism chief.
PACC Commissioner Greco Belgica had earlier said that at least 200 government officials will be subjected to lifestyle check.
The PACC will initially launch lifestyle checks on officials of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Bureau of Customs, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Department of Public Works and Highways, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. (Analou de Vera)
