Defending three-time champion San Beda University’s bid for a first round sweep will have to wait after the NCAA Management Committee (MANCOM) postponed the games Tuesday due to bad weather.
Peter Cayco, the league’s MANCOM chairman of season host Arellano University, made the announcement after the cancellation of classes in Metro Manila, including in the cities of Manila and San Juan.
“Due to the suspension of classes by Manila and San Juan, the games scheduled for today are canceled and shall be played on a date and time to be determined later,” said Cayco in a statement, adding that tickets for canceled games shall be honored on the rescheduled date.
This marked the fourth time, or ‘play date’ that the NCAA has called off because of expected heavy rainfall. The matches Tuesday was originally set Aug. 6 but was canceled due to same reason.
San Beda holds a perfect 8-0 record and is gunning for a first round sweep of the NCAA Season 95 versus Mapua, a team that has won its last three games after a 0-5 start, at The Arena in San Juan.
Also cancelled were matches pitting Letran versus College of St. Benilde and San Sebastian College-Recoletos against Arellano. (Waylon Galvez)
