Immigration officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) have intercepted two more South Koreans who are wanted in their country.
Based on a report reaching BI Commissioner Jaime H. Morente, Hong
Chan Woo, 24, and Jun Juman, 36, were intercepted on Aug. 19 and 20, respectively, at the departure area of the NAIA 3 terminal.
Port operations division (POD) chief Grifton Medina said the duo’s arrest brought to six the number of Korean fugitives apprehended at the NAIA this month.
They were brought to the BI detention in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, pending their deportation proceedings.
“They were about to leave the country when our immigration officers saw that their names were registered hits in Interpol database showing that they have derogatory criminal records in Korea,” Medina added.
Hong was reportedly bound for Jakarta and Juman was going to Hanoi when they were offloaded from their flights and arrested.
According to lawyer Rommel Tacorda, border control and intelligence unit (BCIU) head, Hong is wanted by authorities in Seoul for fraud, forging a private document.
The Korean court issued a warrant against Hong last August 7, becoming the subject of Interpol’s red notice.
Tacorda disclosed that Jun is wanted for violating Korea’s game industry promotion act for engaging in online gaming activities in conspiracy with other suspects.
Jun and his cohorts allegedly amassed hundreds of millions of Won, which the victims deposited to their bank accounts and later converting it to game money. (Jun Ramirez)
