CEBU CITY – Former Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña has filed charges against his successor Edgardo Labella and other City Hall officials for supposedly preventing him from restoring the mayor’s office.
Osmeña asked the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas to hold Labella, City Administrator Lawyer Floro Casas Jr., and City Legal Officer Lawyer Rey Gealon liable for usurpation of official function, grave misconduct, and conduct unbecoming of public officials.
City Hall had earlier filed charges against Osmeña and 44 others for stripping bare the Mayor’s Office before he stepped down last June.
Labella defeated Osmeña in the May elections.
In his complaint-affidavit, Osmeña said that what he did last June 28 was take the belongings that he owned and was supposed to restore the office to what it was when he assumed office in 2016.
Osmeña said the restoration was stopped when Labella, Casas, and Gealon intervened and prevented the laborers from entering the office. (Calvin Cordova)
