Metro Manila’s notorious “Drug Queen” has left the country following the death and arrest of her police protectors and shabu distributors, a ranking police official said Tuesday.
But who is this Drug Queen?
Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said the so-called Drug Queen is an incumbent barangay chairperson in Sampaloc, Manila, and has already left the country to hide.
“Her husband is also a former barangay captain of the same barangay. She also has a policeman brother who was already dismissed from the service,” said Eleazar in a press briefing at NCRPO Headquarters in Taguig City.
Eleazar said that they could not still reveal the name of the Drug Queen since no case has been filed against her so far.
But he disclosed that one of the ninja cops who protected her was Police Corporal Jolly Allangan who was arrested in 2016 and yielded some P8 million cash in a vault hidden inside his house in Manila.
The Drug Queen, according to Eleazar has been at the forefront of shabu distribution in Metro Manila and nearby areas more than three years ago.
But following the implementation of the drug war by President Duterte, the operation of the Drug Queen has started to dwindle, according to Eleazar.
This, after some of her trusted men were arrested, including her police protectors.
Eleazar said nine of her 16 police protectors were killed while Allangan was arrested. Two others were dismissed while two already retired and another one went on AWOL (Absent Without Official Leave).
“She may have already left the country but our operations continued and these resulted in the arrest of her distributors, including an incumbent barangay councilor also in Sampaloc, Manila,” said Eleazar.
In fact, he said they conducted at least three operations this year against the remnants of the group led by the Drug Queen.
It was recalled that Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Aaron Aquino disclosed that the “Drug Queen” would always escape the operation because some cops were protecting her.
ALL-OUT PURGE
On Tuesday, Eleazar met with all heads of drug enforcement units of Metro Manila to discuss new policy guidelines in the conduct of operations that would focus on running after any existing ninja cops, or those who recycle confiscated drugs, and those protecting illegal drugs trade operations.
Under the guideline, the head of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit along with the station commander will immediately be sacked from their post even a single of his men is found to have drug links.
The same goes with the District Drug Enforcement Units of Metro Manila.
There are five District DEUs and 38 station DEUs in Metro Manila.
“We have to work together to finally identify these scalawag policemen. I know you are working hard to get rid of this illegal drug problem but all your efforts, all our efforts, all the efforts and good intention of the President have been repeatedly tarnished by these a handful of scalawags in our ranks,” Eleazar told his men during the conference.
“Let us show to them that we are united, that we do not tolerate this and we will run after them,” he added.
COMPELLED
Eleazar said that by putting the position and integrity of police commanders at stake against ninja cops, they will be compelled to exert all efforts to ensure that their unit will always be clean.
“We have exerted all the necessary measures to identify and punish these ninja cops, but there could still be a handful of them so I want the cooperation of everybody on this effort,” said Eleazar. (Aaron Recuenco)
