Terrence Romeo vowed to become a better player than he is now after being rewarded with a three-year contract extension to remain with the San Miguel Beermen over the weekend.
Romeo, who inked on the dotted line last Saturday, expressed gratitude toward San Miguel Corporation boss Ramon S. Ang and sports director Alfrancis Chua after playing a major role in the Beermen’s title runs in the season’s first two conferences.
The talented guard joined SMB in a trade from TNT KaTropa last December after rumors of a fallout between Romeo and his now-former teammates.
But the deal has been beneficial for both Romeo and SMB as they try to go for a historic Grand Slam in the ongoing PBA Governors’ Cup. The Beermen are currently tied for second with a 5-1 record.
“Akala ko yung career ko dati parang maaga na akong magreretire dahil sa mga nangyayari na up-and-down,” Romeo said after San Miguel’s 113-107 victory over Columbian Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“Ngayon, binuhay nila career ko ulit,” Romeo added, referring to Ang and Chua.
The talented guard didn’t reveal details of the contract, but Romeo is likely to still receive the maximum monthly salary of P420,000.
Romeo had earlier made known his new deal through a lengthy Instagram post, describing the first six years of his career as a “roller coaster.”
“Masasabi ko na yung 6 years ko na pag lalaro sa PBA ay parang roller coaster,” he said. “Masaya, malungkot, mahirap, at frustrating.
Thank you mga bros! I’m so blessed to be a part of the SMC family. I will make sure to grow even better and make the most out of it.
To God be the Glory. (YR. 20,21,22).” (Jonas Terrado)
