The Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU) bared a list of road closures and traffic rerouting schemes in the perimeters of Manila’s major cemeteries — the Manila North Cemetery, La Loma Cemetery, and Chinese Cemetery — in line with the observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ day.
In an advisory on Wednesday, the traffic unit said the stretch of Aurora Boulevard from Dimasalang to Rizal Avenue, Dimasalang from Makiling to Blumentritt, P. Guevarra from Cavite to Pampanga, Blumentritt from A. Bonifacio to P. Guevarra, Retiro from Dimasalang to Blumentritt Extension, and Leonor Rivera from Cavite to Aurora Boulevard will be closed to motorists starting October 31 at 10:00 p.m. until November 3.
Parking areas are available on Craig, Simon, Felix Huertas, Sulu, Oroquieta, and Metrica Streets.
For public utility jeeps bound for Manila North Cemetery coming from Rizal Avenue, Blumentritt should take Cavite, right L. Rivera or Isagani right Antipolo Street to point of destination.
Those coming from Amoranto Street in Quezon City, should turn right in Cavite and right in Bonifacio to point of destination.
Those coming from Dimasalang should turn right to Makiling, right Maceda to point of destination.
No parking on both sides will be also implemented along Retiro specifically in Blumentritt and from Aurora/ Blumentritt to Bonifacio Avenue up to Laon Laan, Dimasalang from North Cemetery gate to Makiling.
Parking is also not allowed in Laon Laan area along Dos Castillas, Don Quijote and Maria Clara, Carola and Aragon Streets.
For PUJs bound for La Loma and Chinese Cemeteries coming from Espana, they should take AH Lacson, Tayuman, Blumentritt from Cavite to Aurora Boulevard and take either Rizal Avenue or Jose Abad Santos.
Those coming from Quiapo, Sta. Cruz, Tondo, Caloocan should take Jose Abad Santos or Rizal Avenue Extension.
Parking areas are available on Oroquieta, F. Huertas, P. Guevarra, Bulacan, Tecson, Sulu, M. Hizon, Kalimbas and Natividad Streets.
No parking on both sides will be implemented along Pampanga Street, Rizal Avenue, Jose Abad Santos and Aurora Street and other streets not included in the rerouting.
MDTEU said left side parallel parking are only allowed for one-way streets.
The traffic unit also advised the public to be guided with the traffic scheme to avoid inconvenience. (Erma Edera)
