Eight policemen in Metro Manila were ordered investigated after they were caught sleeping while on duty.
Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas, acting director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said the eight sleepyhead cops were caught by the Red Team he deployed in various parts of Metro to spy on erring cops.
Sinas, however, said that he did not relieve the eight policemen.
“I did not relieve the eight policemen but allowed them to report and continue exercising their duties. Instead, I told their superior officers to conduct an investigation and allow them to explain,” said Sinas.
Four of the cops caught are assigned in Makati City, two more in Valenzuela City and the two others are from Caloocan City. They were chanced upon sleeping while on duty from October 28 to November 2.
The Red Team was not instructed to arrest policemen, according to Sinas.
Instead, he said they were only tasked to take photos of the eight cops and submit them to the immediate commanders of the sleepyhead cops.
But he said all of the eight will be slapped with a lesser administrative cases. (Aaron Recuenco)
