The tail-end of a cold front, which is the boundary between warm and cold air masses, will continue to bring moderate to at times heavy rains over parts of Luzon until today.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, and the northern portion of Quezon, including Polillo Island, may experience moderate to occasional heavy rains.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country may continue to experience fair weather in the morning with chances of rain showers due to thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.
The entire country should remain alert for possible flash floods in low-lying areas or landslides in mountainous regions during severe thunderstorms.
The State weather bureau also advised the disaster risk reduction management offices concerned to continue monitoring official PAGASA updates.
PAGASA weather specialist Meno Mendoza meanwhile said the low-pressure area being monitored east of Visayas remains outside the country’s area of responsibility.
The weather disturbance was estimated 1,385 kilometers east of Visayas yesterday morning.
Up to two tropical cyclones may form or affect the country in November, based on the PAGASA’s historical record. So far, one tropical cyclone, typhoon “Quiel,” entered the country’s vicinity this month.
Mendoza said a gale warning remains in effect as sea travel is still risky over Batanes, Babuyan, Calayan, Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Zambales, and western Palawan due to the tail-end of cold front.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the southwest to west with slight to moderate seas. (Ellalyn V. Ruiz)
