Four members of youth group Panday Sining, including a minor, were arrested Saturday night by members of the Manila Police District (MPD) after they were allegedly caught vandalizing a Light Rail Transit (LRT) post in Sta. Cruz district.
Lt. Col. Carlo Magno Manuel, chief of the MPD Public Information Office, identified them as Jeanne Vaughn Nico Quijano, 24; Joven Francis Laura; 24; Mikhail Collado; 18; and a minor, all residents of Sampaloc, Manila.
Investigation showed members of the MPD Intelligence Division allegedly caught the suspects vandalizing the LRT post on Recto Avenue at around 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 30.
During their arrest, however, some members of the group allegedly interfered in the police operation and pushed the police officers, police said.
According to militant group Anakbayan, the four suspects were on their way home from a rally held on Bonifacio Day.
Anakbayan members staged an indignation rally in front of the MPD headquarters on U.N. Avenue in Manila on Saturday night, calling for the release of the arrested members.
Police said the suspects will be charged with malicious mischief, vandalism, resisting arrest, and interfering with police duties. (Erma Edera)
