Those planning to register for the May 2022 polls may do so starting next year.
The Commission on Elections is eyeing to resume the registration of voters in January.
“That may come by January. So we still have a couple of weeks more to prepare for that,” Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said.
Although they have no target number yet, he said they are hoping more will register.
“We have yet to come up with a target number. But we did surpass the last target that we set,” said Jimenez.
“Hopefully, we can have a higher number,” he added.
In the last voter registration period, applications from regular registrants reached more than three million which was higher than the initial target of two million.
Last week, the Comelec said it will now focus in preparing for the 2022 presidential polls. (Leslie Aquino)
