THE country’s representative to this year’s Miss World pageant Michelle Dee made it through the preliminaries easily earning a spot in the Top 40.
Dee herself made the announcement via Facebook.
She wrote, “It’s been such a proud moment for us today mga kababayan as we’ve officially secured a spot in the Top 40 through the Head to Head Challenge!!”
Dee, daughter of former Miss International Melanie Marquez, also announced her advocacy project focusing on autism made it to the final top 20.
Three other candidates have been announced as quarter-finalists after they won in their respective Challenge Events – Brazil (top model), British Virgin Islands (sports), and Jamaica (talent).
Aside from Philippines, other Head-to-Head finalists guaranteed a place in the top 40 are: Moldova, Nepal, Venezuela, Nigeria, Mexico, Guyana, India, Trinidad & Tobago and Paraguay.
A total of 111 contestants are competing in this year’s Miss World.
The grand coronation is on Dec. 14.
