The House of Representatives approved on second reading last night a bill granting salary increase to civilian state workers, including nurses and teachers, within a period of four years starting Jan. 1, 2020.
The House passed House Bill No. 5712 or the proposed Salary Standardization Law of 2019 (SSL V) with amendments. The bill is a consolidation of 105 measures.
The approval was made after President Duterte certified as urgent the passage of the bill.
In his sponsorship speech, Ungab cited the need to modify the salary schedule for civilian government personnel.
The House Committee on Appropriations yesterday morning unanimously passed a consolidated bill.
“Merry Christmas to government employees!” Ungab said after the approval of the bill.
“This is the best gift we could give to our government employees,” he said. (Charissa L. Atienza)
