The Manila Police District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MPD-TEU) announced Monday several road closures and rerouting of vehicular traffic in various areas in the city for Tuesday’s blessing and replica procession of the Black Nazarene.
Starting 11 a.m. of January 7, the southbound lane of Quezon Blvd. (Quiapo), from A. Mendoza/Fugoso to Plaza Miranda; and the westbound lane of España Blvd., from P. Campa to Lerma St., will be closed to traffic.
According to MPD-TEU, vehicles coming from Quezon City utilizing the southbound lane of España Ave. shall turn right to P. Campa. St., then turn left to A. Mendoza St., right to Fugoso St., turn left to Rizal Ave. or turn left to Nicanor Reyes St., then turn right to CM Recto Ave. to point of destination.
Meanwhile, all vehicles intending to utilize Quezon Blvd. coming from A. Mendoza St. shall turn right to Fugoso then left to Rizal Ave. to point of destination.
The blessing and the replica procession of the Black Nazarene will start at 2 p.m.
The traffic unit added that the closing and opening of road closure “will be based on actual traffic condition.”
Hundreds of maroon clad devotees of the Black Nazarene from around the country are expected to join the procession of replicas of the revered image through the streets of Quiapo as a prelude to the much anticipated Traslacion procession of the revered Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno on Thursday, January 9.
