Sen. Bong Go said yesterday that he will recommend to President Duterte and Department of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade the extension of the pilot run for motorcycle taxis.
Go offered mediate at the hearing of the Senate Committee on Public Services, chaired by Sen. Grace Poe, on the various proposals to regulate motorcycle taxis.
“Madame Chair, I will recommend to the President and to Secretary Art Tugade the extension of the pilot program for motorcycle taxis provided that they will abide and care for the safety of the passengers,” Go said.
An ally of the President, Go said he will support the program in recognition of the benefits of the motorcycle taxis to the public.
“I will support the continuation of the program, and the amendments to RA 4136 to include motorcycles as an alternative for public transport because I recognize the benefits they provide to the commuting public,” Go said.
“Ang gusto ko lamang, ay gawin lahat ng maayos and most importantly, maprotektahan ang interest ng commuting public,” added the senator.
According to Go, he will always be a strong supporter of private companies, saying they are important partners of the government in providing quality and safe goods and services to our citizens.
Go said he is concerned over the Technical Working Group’s decision to stop the pilot run on motorcycle taxis.
As such, Go urged the government to carefully study Congress’ proposal to regulate motorcycle taxis through the pilot program. (Hannah Torregoza)
