ILOILO CITY – To strengthen the values of Catholic families, the Vicariate of St. Peter Youth Ministries of the Archdiocese of Jaro recently held a Marian concert in Iloilo City.
Dubbed as “Selfie No More: We are Selfless,” the prayer-concert held recently at St. Joseph the Worker Parish Church was part of the preparation for the Year of the Family and the Eucharist to be spearheaded by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
“This is inspired by St. John Paul II, whose liturgical feast day falls on October 22,” said concert director Angelina Lihao.
According to Lihao, St. John Paul II was known for having foreseen “the great danger for family life, in the midst of any society whose idols are pleasure, comfort and independence,”
“We hope the prayer-concert was able to lead the audience to a journey towards selflessness and break the bondage of selfishness that destroys the moral fiber of families,” expressed Lihao.
“This concert is dedicated to Mary as model and the Star of Evangelization,” added Julie Ann Blancaflor, of the Youth Shepherd of the Vicariate of St. Peter. (Tara Yap)
