The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) reminded anew that it does not charge “exorbitant fees” for franchise applications, following reports on ‘fixers’ asking payments for as high as P50,000.
In a statement, the LTFRB clarified that individuals who may ask for payment for a Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) slot are in “no way affiliated with the agency.”
The warning came following reports that reached their office regarding the continuous proliferation of fixers charging as high as P50,000 for a franchise.
But according to the agency, applicants are charged “no more than the minimal fees for administrative costs.”
The chargeable fees for TNVS franchise applications include P51 for filing of first two units; P70 additional fee for third unit; P10 for legal research fee; P50 for inspection; and P250 for provisional authority.
The transport regulatory body also urged the public to report any offer promising to acquire a slot as there are no current openings for TNVS franchise as per LTFRB’s Memorandum Circular 2018-016.
“Anti-corruption measures have long been exercised within the agency to ensure honesty and transparency at all times,” the LTFRB pointed out.
The LTFRB warned the public to be wary and not to deal with fixers, and instead report to authorities any individual who may attempt to negotiate with them in exchange for a franchise. (Alexandria San Juan)
