The Philippine National Police has been suffering image problems before the public despite its big accomplishments.
The 205,000-strong PNP will know the reason why tomorrow.
The PNP leadership and the Ateneo School of Government will release the results of the study that aims to explain the perennial problem of low public perception on police performance.
PNP chief Police Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa said they first tapped the academe in order to come up with scientific approaches in improving both the performance and image of the organization.
“For years, we have been searching for a clearer answer on the problem of low public perception of PNP, and now we seek the help of the academe to conduct this study,” said Gamboa.
The research study, entitled “Leadership Study Diagnosing Factors Behind Success and Failure in the Philippine National Police,” examined four main factors – personality traits, organizational culture, demographic profile, and professional history.
It emphasized some of the main factors that both build and erode key leadership qualities and performance of the PNP.
The result of the study will be presented before the top officers of the PNP. (Aaron Recuenco)
