Malacañang said yesterday that President Duterte and Metro Pacific Investments Corp. chairman Manny Pangilinan may discuss the issue on the allegedly onerous contracts of Metro Manila water concessionaires in a meeting.
Duterte and Pangilinan last Thursday graced the inspection and presentation of the North Luzon Expressway Harbor Link C3-R10 section in Caloocan City, a project built by the Department of Public Works and Highways in partnership with NLEX Corp., a unit of Pangilinan’s MPIC.
The Chief Executive approached and shook Pangilinan’s hand and told the 71-year-old businessman they should meet soon.
Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo said the two may discuss anything that is of mutual concern, including the government’s deal with Maynilad and Manila Water.
“Kung whatever. Mutual concerns. ‘Yung water siguro, most likely,” he said.
Panelo recalled Duterte and Pangilinan’s interaction.
“Nagkatabi lang sila sa stage and then after his speech ‘di ba they shook hands. And I understand the President told him that they will meet some time,” he said. (Argyll Geducos)
