DAVAO CITY – A Japanese man and his cohort were arrested in a drug bust in Panabo City, Davao del Norte on Sunday afternoon.
The Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 report identified the suspects as Naoki Suzuki Iguchi, 50, staying in Calinan District here, and Marcilino M. Leocadio 40, former overseas Filipino worker, a resident of Purok 4 ,Barangay New Visayas, Panabo City.
Police said the suspects were involved in the proliferation of illegal drugs, particularly “shabu” in the area.
The Panabo City Police Station along with Davao del Norte Police Mobile Force Company and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted an anti-drug operation around 12:30 p.m. last Sunday near the residence of Leocadio which resulted in the arrest of the two suspects.
Seized from the possession of the suspects were four sachets of shabu placed in a pouch, a .45-caliber pistol loaded with bullets and the money used in the operation.
The suspects are now detained at Panabo City Police Station and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Armando Fenequito, Jr.)
