TACLOBAN City – A high school student, who yielded around R800,000 worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation, died when he allegedly shot it out with policemen in this city Monday night.
Police identified the slain suspect as Annfernie Olano, 19, a resident of Guadalupe, Cebu City, and a high-value individual (HVI) of Eastern Visayas Police.
Capt. Winrich Laya Lim, head of the City Drug Enforcement Unit, said that a poseur-buyer was able to purchase a sachet of shabu worth R22,000 from the suspect in Barangay 92, Apitong, at around 7:45 p.m..
When the transaction was consummated, the arresting team moved towards the suspect to arrest him.
However, the suspect sensed the approaching police officers, drew his firearm and fired shots at the police officers. This prompted the arresting team to return fire, killing him. (Marie Tonette Marticio)
