There are now 403 confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, 46 deaths, and 112 recoveries in Makati City, the data of the Makati Health Department (MHD) showed.
MHD said the city has one probable, 314 suspected cases, and 257 persons under monitoring (PUMs) as of 9 p.m. of May 5.
Barangay Pembo still remains the village with the most number of cases as it now has 33 COVID-19 patients.
Makati City still has a high number of COVID-19 patients who recovered from the dreaded disease.
Barangay Poblacion is still the barangay with the most number of patients who recovered from COVID-19 with a total of 16.
Recently, the local government of Makati started testing frontliners in the city for COVID-19.
Dr. Bernard Sese, MHD chief, said the samples were brought to the Philippine Red Cross Headquarters in Mandaluyong for diagnosis.
The Makati local government partnered with the humanitarian organization for the mass testing of at least 2,000 frontliners, persons under investigation, and PUMs.
Mayor “Abby” Abigail Binay, meanwhile, reminded her constituents that the best way to fight COVID-19 is to stay at home and strengthen their immune system.
The mayor urged her constituents to do the “Otso-Otso” cleaning program of the city wherein they disinfect their homes at 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. to help stop the spread of the dreaded disease.
If a resident is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, Binay said that he/she must call the city government at 168 or (02) 8942 6843.
The city government of Makati has been delivering financial assistance and food packs to residents of the city to ensure that they will not leave their homes. (Jel Santos)
