Two generals have been given new posts in a minor revamp in the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Brig. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin is now the head of the Ilocos regional police while his classmate Brig. Gen. Omega Jireh Fidel was tapped as his replacement as director of the Maritime Group.
Both Azurin and Fidel are members of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class 1989.
The new designation takes effect today.
PNP chief Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa said the minor reorganization was triggered by the retirement of Brig. Gen. Joel Orduña, the erstwhile commander of the Ilocos regional police.
Azurin is the former of the PNP Maritime Group and also served as deputy director of the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management in 2019.
Fidel, on the other hand, is former director of the PNP Engineering Service.
Gamboa said Col. Abelardo Matillano will replace Fidel as the Acting Director of the Engineering Service while Police Colonel Angeles Genorga Jr. assumes post as Officer-in-Charge of the PNP Training Service. (Aaron Recuenco)
