TACLOBAN City – At least seven houses were destroyed by a fire that broke out in Barangay Mercado, Villareal as typhoon “Ambo” barrelled across Samar Island Thursday.
Initial information disclosed the fire started at around 6:45 p.m. due to an unattended lit candle on the second floor of the house of a certain Patricia Hermosura Royandoyan.
The municipality as well as its nearby towns and provinces experienced power interruption due to heavy rains and violent winds brought about by the typhoon.
The fire burned six other residential houses made of light materials with estimated damage amounting to more or less P650,000.
No casualty was reported in the fire that was put out at around 8 p.m. on the same day. (Marie Tonette Marticio)
