PALO, Leyte – At least five people died and 50 others were injured when typhoon “Ambo” battered the island of Samar, a report from Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) based in Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Campetic, this town, said Monday.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Ma. Bella Rentuaya, PRO-8 regional information officer, said that based on the updated report of her office there were 55 casualties brought about by the typhoon wherein five died and 50 were injured.
Rentuaya said that those who died were from the towns of Almagro, Samar with one fatality; Las Navas, Northern Samar, one; Oras, Eastern Samar, two; and San Policarpo, Eastern Samar, one.
She added that eight were injured in Northern Samar from the towns of Mondragon, two; Rosario, three; and Capul, three.
There were 42 injured in Eastern Samar from the towns of Arteche, four; Can-avid, 10; Maslog, three; Oras, two; San Policarpo, four; and Dolores, 19.
There was no reported missing from the areas hit by the typhoon.
Rentuaya also said that were no more reported stranded persons, vehicles and ships in the port Allen town in Northern Samar. (Restituto A. Cayubit)
