Intelligence operatives caught two Chinese men with illegal drugs and a firearm while driving without a license and a quarantine pass early Thursday morning in Makati City.
Police Maj. Gideon Ines, Jr., assistant chief of police for operations, identified the two as Kun Yang, 24; and Jianxing Yang, 23.
The duo are living in separate residences in Pasay and Paranaque City.
Investigation showed that the two were spotted riding a black Toyota Innova at around 1:30 a.m. along Metropolitan Avenue near Jazz Mall corner Nicanor Garcia St., Brgy. Bel-Air, Makati City.
According to the police, the suspects were asked for their quarantine pass and driver’s license which they were unable to produce.
During the course of inquiry, one of the intelligence operatives spotted a firearm beside the driver’s seat. They asked for the firearm’s license, yet the suspects cannot show any document.
Inside the vehicle, police recovered four small knot-tied plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu; four small plastic sachets containing suspected shabu; and an improvised container containing a strip of aluminum foil.
The illegal drugs weighed 6.55 grams amounting to P44,540, according to police.
They also seized a .45-caliber Remington Rand gun loaded with eight pieces of live ammunition; and another magazine loaded with five pieces of ammunition
The two suspects are now detained at the station custodial facility of Makati City.
The seized items were turned over to Southern Police District (SPD) Crime Laboratory for chemical analysis. (Dhel Nazario)
