SULTAN KUDARAT – The Department of Health (DoH)-Davao has recorded 20 new more cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Davao region on Tuesday.
As of 5 p.m. of May 26, the DoH-Davao Center for Health Development reported that 18 of the new cases are from Davao City, one from Davao del Sur, and one from Davao Occidental.
Just one day after the two reported two new confirmed positive patients and two recoveries, the agency bared that the surge of the new positives has brought the number of COVID-19 cases to 273 in Davao region.
The DoH-Davao also reported one new fatality from Davao del Norte. The deceased COVID-19 patient was identified as PH12217, a 52-year-old female resident of Barangay Peñaplata in the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS).
Based on the report, the patient had the onset of symptoms last April 29 and was admitted to the hospital on May 13. The DoH-Davao bared that PH12217 had an “unknown travel and exposure history.”
She was the third recorded fatality in the province of Davao del Norte and second in IGACOS after the previously reported death of a 10-year-old girl identified as DR-193, a resident of Barangay Adekor, Kaputian. (Warren Elijah E. Valdez)
