CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Two motorcycle-riding men were arrested by police for carrying guns during the implementation of curfew hour in San Juan, Abra.
Citing reports received by his office, Brig. Gen.R’win Pagkalinawan, regional director of Police Regional Office-Cordillera, identified the arrested suspects as Nonoy Edaw Bag-ayan, 36,of Lagangilang, Abra; and Lando Jaquias Batallia, 49, of San Juan, Abra.
Pagkalinawan said personnel of San Juan Municipal Police Station led by Lt. Reynaldo Bonuan were conducting patrol at about 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday in Barangay Badas, San Juan, Abra when they spotted the suspects on board a black Yamaha Mio 125 motorcycle without plate number travelling in opposite direction.
During confrontation, police found a 9mm Beretta tucked on the waist of motorcycle driver Bag-ayan. The gun bearing serial number N020220Z was loaded with 12 live ammunition.
Police also seized from backrider Batallia a .45-caliber shooter bearing serial number M07134518, loaded with four live ammunition.
Bonuan asked for pertinent documents to possess said firearms, but the suspects failed to present any.
The suspects were brought to the San Juan Municipal Police Station for documentation and filing of appropriate charges. (Zaldy Comanda)
