Anti-narcotics agents of the Philippine National Police (PNP) killed two suspected drug dealers, including a foreigner, in Parañaque City in the continuing operations following the confiscation of some P5.1 billion worth of shabu in Bulacan.
Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat, director of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG), said the operation in Parañaque City on Saturday resulted in the confiscation of 36 kilos of shabu with a street value of P244 million.
“The Parañaque City operation and the discovery of the P5.1 billion worth of shabu in Marilao, Bulacan are connected,” Caramat said in an interview.
He, however, did not divulge more information as the follow-up operation against the drugs syndicate is ongoing.
Caramat identified the slain suspects as Chinese Jin Long Cai and his Filipino cohort Danny Apiga.
Earlier, the PNP-DEG discovered at least 756 kilos of shabu in a warehouse in Bulacan. A Chinese trusted man of the syndicate, along with two Filipinas, were collared during the operation.
As part of the follow-up operation, police and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) were able to negotiate for the purchase of shabu against the group of Jin on Saturday on Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard in Parañaque City.
But during the buy-bust at around 4:30 p.m., the suspects noticed that they were dealing with cops, triggering a shootout that resulted in their death.
Seized from them were 36 packs marked with Chinese characters, each of them contains more or less a kilo of shabu.
Aside from the 36 packs containing shabu, also confiscated were a car and two .45-caliber pistols.
The P2 million worth buy-bust boodle money was also recovered, according to Caramat.(Aaron Recuenco)
