THE Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) arrested Monday a 21-year-old man after he was found in possession of over 300 grams of suspected shabu in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) reservation in Muntinlupa City.
BuCor identified the suspect as Mark Joseph Sagales, 21, a resident of NHA Southville 3 housing project located near the NBP maximum security camp.
According to BuCor, two members of a roving security team were patrolling the perimeter of the NBP maximum security camp at about 5:30 p.m. on June 8 when they noticed Sagales and his companion loitering in the area.
The BuCor said they were observed throwing something over the 12-ft perimeter wall of the maximum security facility.
When the patrol team approached them, Sagales’ companion ran away while the suspect was apprehended and found to be in possession of the suspected illegal drugs.
Sagales was turned over to the Philippine National Police-Muntinlupa’s Drug Enforcement Unit and will be charged for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
BuCor Director General Gerald Bantag said he will not tolerate illegal drugs within the BuCor premises.
