POLICE rescued Monday night a female POGO worker from her two compatriots who detained her for 10 days in a condominium unit in Makati City.
Major Gideon Ines Jr., Makati Police Investigation Unit chief, identified the suspects as Meng Zhou, 26, and Yi-Ting Tseng, 29, both POGO (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator) workers renting a condominium unit in Barangay Bel-Air.
The victim, Ao Yuan, 29, was also renting a condominium unit in the same village.
Police operatives rescued Yuan inside the suspects’ unit at around 11:30 p.m. after Ines received information that a Chinese woman was being illegally detained at the condominium unit.
“The victim asked a Chinese man who delivered food at the condo to contact the police, and tell us that she was detained against her will,” he said
“Help me! Help me!,” the woman shouted when she learned that cops were the ones who knocked at the door of the unit where she was detained for days, according to Ines.
He said the two suspects refused to open the door for policemen.
“We identified ourselves as policemen. They still declined to open the door. The Chinese woman was hysterical inside the room, pleading for help,” Ines said.
Policemen used a locksmith in order to open the door of the unit.
“Upon entering, we saw the woman. She was crying, maybe out of joy because we came to rescue her,” Ines said.
During investigation, Ines said they found out that the suspects and the victim are all POGO workers.
“Apparently, they are all POGO workers. That explains the many laptops and routers we seized at the condo unit,” he said.
Yuan, according to him, was detained by her two compatriots because she allegedly embezzled P1.5 million from their company.
“The two Chinese nationals claimed that she transferred P1.5 million to her own account, saying they just want her to return the missing money,” Ines said.
Zhou and Tseng are currently held at the Makati Police Headquarters’ detention cell.
