Tokyo Olympics qualifier Eumir Marcial, who is about to cash in on a professional boxing career, announced his engagement to long-time girlfriend Princess Galarpe on social media.
“My princess deserves a crown and she finally said Yes!” Marcial said on Facebook. “I love you my future wife.”
Marcial’s decision to take the plunge came at a more perfect time.
The heavy-handed Marcial is coming off a gold medal winning stint in the Asia-Oceania Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Amman, Jordan, last March.
Last year, Marcial got the silver in the world championships, a gold in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games and a bronze in the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games.
Aside from these accolades, Marcial, 24, had also won the world junior championships in 2011 and he is regarded as one of a handful of Filipino bets with genuine chances of winning gold in the rescheduled Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
Galarpe and Marcial immediately became an item following their initial meeting in the Philippine national team.
Galarpe also boxes and remains Marcial’s constant companion during the lockdown.
Marcial is being wooed by a couple of promotional outfits as his mother organization, the Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP) has finally decided to rally behind the country’s top fighter.
Despite his status changing into pro soon, Marcial, a member of the Philippine Air Force, has assured the ABAP of his dedication to pursue his Olympic dreams.
