Eight of the nine members of a family in Navotas City, who tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) after attending a party, will face charges for violating the community quarantine protocols, Mayor Toby Tiangco said on Friday.
Tiangco also said that the chairman of Barangay Navotas West, where the family lives, will be held accountable as well for allowing his constituents to hold mass gathering.
Tiangco got appalled when he found out that the nine residents became positive for the virus after attending “a celebration” on May 19 when the city was still under enhanced community quarantine.
One of them, a senior citizen, already died.
Bawal itong gathering.”
This is also the reason why the street where the family resides has been placed under a 10-day lockdown until June 20 to prevent the people there from going outside their houses while Metro Manila already shifted to a more relaxed quarantine protocol. (Joseph Pedrajas)
