WWE legend “The Undertaker” may have gone to the ‘last ride’ of his wrestling career.
In the final episode of “The Last Ride” documentary on WWE Network, the 55-year-old wrestling legend said “he doesn’t intend to wrestle another match.”
“The Undertaker,” who is Mark Calaway in real life, though has left the doors still open for a possible return.
But for now, he has made up his mind.
“If Vince [McMahon] (WWE CEO) was in a pinch, would I come back? I guess time will only tell, there. In case of emergency, break glass, you pull out the Undertaker, I would have to consider that.
“Never say never, but at this point in my life and my career, I have no desire to get back in the ring,” the 6-foot-10 Calaway said.
In his last match, “The Undertaker” defeated AJ Styles in WrestleMania 36 in a cinematic style “Boneyard Match.”
“There was a lot of thought, a lot of emotion that went through my head, one of those being, ‘Are you happy enough with that?’ It was just a powerful moment, and you don’t always necessarily get those,” Calaway said of his match with Styles.
“Man, if there was ever a perfect ending to a career, that right there is it.”
The multi-titled Calaway, who began his wrestling career in 1987 before joining WWE (formerly WWF) three years after, said the documentary helped him to decide that it’s time to call it quits for his career.
“The Undertaker” boasts a 25-2 record in WrestleMania, making him one of the most decorated wrestlers in history.
He lost to Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns in 2014 (WrestleMania XXX) and 2017 (WrestleMania 33) respectively.
“This time, the cowboy really rides away,” Calaway said, adding that the “time just seems right” for the young guns to come up since the “game has changed.”
